Self-expression felt risky growing up

Growing up in a world where self-expression felt risky, I found sanctuary in art; an escape to all things colourful, a space where I could be completely myself. Art, for me, was not only fun but life-affirming. It gave me a voice and a purpose. It instilled a lasting belief in the transformative power of creativity - the power to uplift the human spirit and bring more joy to everyday life.

Making my way in the '90s

In the 1990s, I studied illustration at Brighton, drawing inspiration from popular culture and everyday life. On my journey through London art studios, book publishing, and global travels, I discovered a new way to express myself and connect through universally felt emotions: storytelling, a tool that continues to shape the trajectory of my art and career.

Connecting through stories

Through writing and illustrating children's books, I found a conduit for my experiences and a way to connect with others across the globe. This chapter marked not only a milestone in my career but also a testament to the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.

Self-discovery and the improv scene

At the height of professional success, personal turmoil forced me to heal myself through creativity once again. I trained as a psychotherapist using the arts and went on to lead international art workshops. I became a regular on the improv scene and dedicated my life to celebrating our innate playfulness, spontaneous potential, and inherent creativity.

Navigating lockdown through art

As the world ground to a halt during the pandemic, the deafening silence and uncertainty of our collective future forced us all to look deep within. I returned, once again, to my colourful escape. It was in those quiet moments that the seeds of Pop Olive Art were planted.

Pop Olive Art

Today, as the creator behind Pop Olive Art, I weave together threads of my past experiences as an artist, storyteller, and psychotherapist to make art that uplifts, inspires, and connects us all. My prints and canvases draw inspiration from the vibrancy of human emotions, blending colour and abstract elements with the everyday to create a collage of positivity and uninhibited vibrancy.
